A brief history
1988: We started out as a small team of NHS VAT consultants, under the name of VAT Liaison.
2009: Addition of our forensics service, recovering cash from overpayments, missed credits and payroll mistakes.
2011: Launch of STAFFflow, our unique direct engagement service, helping trusts and boards to cut the costs of agency staffing, plus achieve greater control and visibility.
2012: Introduction of our technology salary sacrifice service, Liaison Onecall.
2013: Formation of our own technology company, Liaison Technology, following the acquisition of medical staffing technology firm 3 Blue Dots. Liaison Technology now provides and supports many of the systems behind our growing range of workforce management services for the NHS.
2014: Launch of Taking the Temperature, our series of annual and quarterly benchmarking reports providing a unique snapshot of NHS staffing spend.
2016: Launch of TempRE, a wider workforce management system adding bank and shared bank services plus outsourced payroll to our STAFFflow direct engagement service.
We’ll be continuing to add new services in line with our stated vision: “To courageously innovate and grow for the benefit of our clients and our staff.”

Liaison Onecall is a partnership between technology salary sacrifice specialists Onecall and Liaison. Liaison Onecall is a technology benefit programme for the NHS; it is designed to allow NHS staff to acquire technology products, such as iPads, smart phones and TVs via salary sacrifice.
Liaison Technology, part of the Liaison group of companies, offers a web based contingency staffing management application, supported by a wide range of services. All of these services are delivered as a bespoke solution to assist public and private organisations reduce their demand on agencies. Liaison Technology’s SaaS technology provides the capability for organisations to address contingency staffing management through a number of ways.
In 2016 we acquired HR analytics business Activ8 Intelligence. Activ8 provides advanced, analytical HR software that helps organisations more effectively manage their workforce, develop and retain key talent and provide relevant and important insights to HR and management. This move enables us to now also help trusts and boards manage their permanent workforce more efficiently and effectively too. Activ8’s award-winning ‘Mission Control’ software consolidates and categorises data from any or all of an organisation’s existing HR systems and automatically seeks out hidden insights and trends. It enables us to offer our clients a total workforce management solution with greater data interrogation across their temporary and substantive workforce, helping to inform workforce strategy.
